WHY you just have to laugh

When I walked through the Omaha Beach Cemetery in Normandy, I had no idea it would be so emotional. I sobbed. As I looked at the thousands of graves I realized that all of these people made a difference in the lives of future generations. At that moment I said, “If I don’t make a difference in the world, all of these people died in vain.”

A man in Edgerton Kansas thanked me for making him laugh. Three months earlier his son died. The gentlemen said, “I think I’m going to be okay now. Thanks for getting me to laugh again.”

I found a Torah cover at a flea market. Being Jewish I knew the importance of this sacred piece of cloth. For those who don’t know, The Torah is the formal written scroll of the five books of Moses. It includes both Judaism’s written and oral law – encompassing the entire spectrum of Jewish teachings throughout history. I bought the Torah Cover to get it to a proper home. I offered it to my friend, Cantor Silbershire to display at his synagogue. He refused. Then he said, “Maybe you should figure out why you found a Torah cover. I’ve never met anyone who found a cover for the Torah.”

I share what I have been blessed to receive - the gift of humor and laughter.
