“As we work with dying patients and their families, humor tumbles out in places we least expect. Laughing in those moments creates a powerful connection that embraces our joy for each other. The following stories remind us of those funny moments, making it a bit easier to let go and move on.”

From illness to injury, and through the sacred ground of grief, you will look into the eyes of people who have laughed through life’s toughest times.

This hysterical and heartwarming film is centered on David Naster’s, You Just Have To Laugh live presentation. The greatest thing about this film – it makes you laugh, as people prove it’s okay to laugh at the stuff you thought you ‘could never’ or ‘should ever’ laugh at.

If you have ever cared for an ailing family member, gone through emotional and physical pain or had to deal with illness and death, watching this film will help. Watching it over and over again will really help.

If you have never experienced the above – you will. Or you’re dead.

“David Naster understands the value humor has to the healthcare community. He shows us how to appreciate the honest funny moments - that help us deal with the stresses, our jobs. When you leave his ?presentation you feel good- especially about what you do.
- Richard Hastings, President and CEO St. Luke’s Health System

“The Healing Arts is a big component at Truman Medical Center. It incorporates a variety of learning for both our patients and our employees. Healing the healer is one of the most critical parts to our patient’s recovery. David Naster’s ‘You Just Have To Laugh’ presentation to our physicians, fit right into our philosophy. It accomplished two amazing things - laughing and learning at the same time.
Physicians constantly deal with serious illness, tragedy and loss. Understanding humor’s importance in these moments is invaluable. Our doctors never knew that getting CEU credits could be so much fun.”
- John W. Bluford, President and CEO Truman Medical Center

“David Naster is not just a comedian, he is a philosopher who understands human nature better than many pyschologist. Put him in front a room of staff nurses or physicians and he will renew their ability to laugh and elevate their spirits.”

When I walked through the Omaha Beach Cemetery in Normandy, I had no idea it would be so emotional. I sobbed. As I looked at the thousands of graves I realized that all of these people made a difference in the lives of future generations. At that moment I said, “If I don’t make a difference in the world, all of these people died in vain.”

A man in Edgerton Kansas thanked me for making him laugh. Three months earlier his son died. The gentlemen said, “I think I’m going to be okay now. Thanks for getting me to laugh again.”

I found a Torah cover at a flea market. Being Jewish I knew the importance of this sacred piece of cloth. For those who don’t know, The Torah is the formal written scroll of the five books of Moses. It includes both Judaism’s written and oral law – encompassing the entire spectrum of Jewish teachings throughout history. I bought the Torah Cover to get it to a proper home. I offered it to my friend, Cantor Silbershire to display at his synagogue. He refused. Then he said, “Maybe you should figure out why you found a Torah cover. I’ve never met anyone who found a cover for the Torah.”

I share what I have been blessed to receive - the gift of humor and laughter.
